Upon taking the podium, Miss Garner looked upon the youthful audience, as she said, “You guys look…young,” then adding, “bright, successful, clean, pretty-looking people.” Helping the actress maintain credibility during the education/care talks, Shriver later reminded the conference-goers that Jennifer is “a daughter of West Virginia” and “understands the problem of rural poverty very well.”
